LIVE STREAMING ISSUES
Ever since the pandemic started, musicians all over the world have taken to the internet as clubs, restaurants and theaters closed. In short, for many, this has become a fight for survival!
Now, FACEBOOK, which has been the main platform for entertainers to exhibit their talents is shiutting down music. At the core of this issue are copyright laws.
Many musicians use backing tracks. Many of these are pre-made karaoke level recordings. Others talented people actually spend a great deal of designing and recording tracks. Either way, the copyright laws have not kept up with the ever-growing technical world and until things are straightened out, everything might be shut down.

UPDATE...It is primarily dee jays and those using karaoke and pre-recorded tracks that will be targeted and taken off Facebook. It appears that this platform was originally intended for private exchanges between friends and family. However, I have heard that a new platform is being developed for those talents interested in performing on line.

ALBUM IN FINAL MIX PROCESS
In January of 2020, I decided to start work on a new album. This all came about because I have been archiving my musical history and in the process re-discovered some songs that I had actually forgotten about. So, I decided to give them a brush up and some new life. It also gave me something to do when Morgan's Music Junction shut down for a while due to covid 19.
So, I decided to take some of the prime material from a 50 year career in music and give it new energy and a dramatic impact. The album is called FRESH COAT and hopefully will be ready by mid-November. I wasn't able to get all the songs I wanted on this volume, so there will be a follow up project called SECOND COAT.
There is a bit of a backup with the cd manufacturers, probably because are and more musicians need to keep their careers alive somehow. So...recording an album is becoming an alternative to live STREAMING computer shows.

DRIVEWAY SHOWS AND THE INTERNET ARE SAVING THE CAREERS OF PERFORMERS
Just flip on Facebook and you'll see performers from every level of the entertainment industry doing what they can on line to keep their names and skills exposed. Here in the Florida Villages, there is no shortage of entertainment options. The music and theatre community was hopping with activity...until Covid shut down everything.
Venues have not completely returned to full operation. Theatres that have re-opened can only operate at 50 percent occupancy.
I admire the go-getters in this situation. It is becoming increasingly more common to see some of these well known singers doing their shows from drive-ways and garages. I'm sure many of them find it uncomfortable to use backing tracks, but it is what it is. I consider myself blessed to be in a full band that has returned to a concert schedule...MORGANS MUSIC JUNCTION BAND.
There are quite a few idiots on line also. These souls, of course, stick out like sore thumbs. But, I still give them credit for trying to participate into what is becoming a new media outlet for talent. Good luck to everyone.
MORGAN'S MUSIC JUNCTION
Since retiring officially about two years ago, I have become involved with theatre, writing, recording and performing with the house band for the Morgan's Music Junction...a popular concert venue in Summerfield, Fl. Yes folks. It's on the map!
Until moving to Florida, I lived in and around the Chicagoland area. The Windy City is blessed with a plethora of talent, particularly in the area of cabaret. My fellow contemporaries, of which there are many, all perform with conviction and uniqueness.
But, I must say, I have never had an experience quite like working with the Junction house band. Each and every one of these fine musicians have impressive backgrounds. You would fall off your chair if I told you the names of some of the artists these folks have worked and toured with.
Perhaps the most popular regularly scheduled events are the Thursday evening jam sessions when a wide variety of artists (some traveling long distances) join our band on stage for a very entertaining few hours. MEANWHILE....BACK IN CHICAGO
There is a wonderful venue in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago called the Skokie theatre. It has been a great home for live music and theatre for some years now. I have had the pleasure of doing a few shows there with an amazing talent named Carla Gordon. She has and continues to be a guiding light in the world of Cabaret.
As you know, theatres, clubs and other entertainment are struggling. In fact. the Skokie has been producing shows outside in a lawn area.
Please get out there and support these efforts. The environments are safe. Just practice simple safety procedures and enjoy yourself.
