There is much to report now that I've moved to Florida. I first want to thank all the wonderful people back home in Chicago and other parts of the world for your best wishes.
Carla Gordon, song writing partner and cabaret performer extraordinaire...Sami Scot, soul sister in song...Terri Collins, artist and dear friend...Annelie, my Swedish sister in Malmo and Jessica Wimert...my vocal coach from Stockholm, Jeannie Albrightson...my inspiration are only a few of the individuals I keep in my mind and heart every day.
I have retired from a fifty year career in music that, for all intents and purposes, has been more successful than I had ever imagined possible. I have had experiences most people only dream about. But the big kicker is that in fifty years, I've never been out of work!
I am happy to be away from the everyday grind associated with full time lounge performing and am relishing the fact that I can now spend time involved with projects that will allow my creativity to blossom. Its been a long journey to reach this point in my life.
I reside in the VILLAGES in Florida. There is a high concentration of fine talent in shows presented every evening in three town squares and that's just the beginning! There are popular clubs and stunning concert venues throughout an area larger than Manhattan!
In particular, there is wonderful 550 seat theatre called the ORANGE BLOSSOM OPRY HOUSE. It is primarily a place where country music lives, but the stage is no stranger to a variety of acts as indicated by a very popular series called the SUPER JAM.
I contacted the powers that be and was invited to a jam held on the 8th of November. I've been invited back to another show on Thursday the 15th. This is a wonderful opportunity to create some interest in my original material. Additionally, I can't begin to tell you what a rush it is to be backed up by the big house band which consists of the highest caliber of talent you can imagine.
For many years, I have craved the opportunity to do some theatre. I've kindled this desire since I was a theatre major back in the stone age.
The ACTORS STUDIO has afforded me a chance to embrace a character named DETECTIVE ANGELO in a new play called MURDER BY IMPROV. This is not a collection of sketches, but rather an ambitious full length play presented by a company of actors improvising their way through a murder mystery.
The first scheduled performance will be held on December 13th at a very nice location called the Rohan Center. This is a challenge and everyone in the cast is looking forward to hitting the stage. The show will be presented again in January on three dates to be announced soon. But, I can tell you that this is an opportunity to see a murder mystery presented in the lovely Village's ST GEORGE CHURCH! This is perhaps a strange location for this type of play, but life is very loose and interesting here.
To satisfy my baseball craving, the Villages have a Chicago Cubs Club. I've been granted the honor of singing the anthem for meetings and events. I'm also a writer for the newsletter and its fun to once again put on my journalist's cap.
There are some other things I'm going to become involved with, but I'll reveal those another time.
In the meantime, I will do my level best to keep everyone abreast of my post career activities right here on my newsletter page. I encourage visitors to stop by the contact page on this site and write to me. CLICK HERE
